Southpaw, for me, was one of the best movies of 2015.

Jake Gyllenhal, as always, was at his best in the movie. His acting as Billy Hope was superb.

The movie starts with Billy Hope, being the world champion in boxing. Then, in a party, he fell into a dispute with another boxer, where, accidentally, his wife, was shot dead. This caused Hope into mental trauma. When his daughter was also taken by Foster homes in a lawsuit, Hope gets more troubled. He needed to prove that he could be a civilized citizen and a great father, to get his daughter back. For this, he had to get an employment, which was really hard for Hope, as he knew nothing but boxing. He was in his late career, and he was very disturbed because of the recent incidents that had happened in his life, because of which he could not perform well in boxing and no agents would take him.

Disturbed, but determined to get his daughter back in his life, Billy Hope once again starts working and training as a boxer, with his previous friend. The struggle shown is really heart touching.

You need to watch the movie, to experience the real greatness. It tops my chart of best movies I watched in 2015. Highly recommended.
